이제 그대야말로 낙엽과도 같다
염라왕의 사자들이 그대 가까이에 있고
그대는 떠남의 문턱에 서 있으나,
그대에게는 노잣돈조차도 없구나
Thou art now like a sear leaf,
the messengers of death (Yama) have come near to thee;
thou standest at the door of thy departure,
and thou hast no provision for thy journey.
그대는 자신을 섬으로 만들어라

서둘러 정진하여 현명한 님이 되라
티끌을 날려버리고 허물을 여의면,
그대는 천상계의 고귀한 곳에 이르리
Make thyself an island, work hard, be wise!
When thy impurities are blown away, and thou art free from guilt,
thou wilt enter into the heavenly world of the elect (Ariya).
