72. Escape
벗어남
This was said by the Lord....
"Bhikkhus, there are these three elements of escape.
What three? The escape from sensual desires, that is,
renunciation; the escape from form, that is, the formless;
and the escape from whatever has come to be, from
whatever is conditioned and dependently arisen, that is,
cessation. These, bhikkhus, are the three elements of escape."
세존께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다고.... [나는 들었다].
“비구들이여! 이들 세 가지 벗어남[出離]의 경지가 있소.
세 가지가 무엇일까요? 감각적 욕망에서 벗어남, 다시
말하면 포기; 형상[色]에서 벗어남, 다시 말하면 형상이
없는 영역[無色界]; 그리고 존재하는 것은 무엇이든지 조건으로
이루어진 것은 무엇이든지 그리고 의지하여 발생[緣起]한 것은
무엇이든지 거기에서 벗어남, 다시 말하면 소멸이요.
비구들이여! 이것들이 벗어남의 세 가지 경지이지요.”
Having known the escape from sensual desires
And the overcoming of forms,
One whose energy is always ardent
Reaches the stilling of all formations.
Such a bhikkhu who sees rightly
Is thereby well released.
Accomplished in knowledge, at peace,
That sage has overcome all bonds.
감각적 욕망에서 벗어남과
형상의 극복을 알고서
늘 열심히 수행하는 사람은
온갖 형성 작용[行]이 고요히 멈추게 되네.
[그와 같이] 바르게 보는 비구는
그로 해서 완전히 해탈하네.
지혜와 평화를 다듬은
저 성자는 온갖 속박을 극복해 왔네.
