Thus have I heard. At one time the Lord was journeying among the people of Kosala together with a large Order of bhikkhus. On that occasion a number of youths passed by in a mocking manner not far from the Lord.
The Lord saw those youths passing by in a mocking manner....
Then, on realizing its significance, the Lord uttered on that occasion this inspired utterance:
ÀÌ¿Í °°ÀÌ ³»°¡ µé¾ú´Ù. ÇÑ ¶§ ¼¼Á¸²²¼ ´ë±Ô¸ð ºñ±¸ ½Â´Ü°ú ÇÔ²² ÄÚ»ì¶ó »ç¶÷µé »çÀÌ¿¡¼ À¯Çà(ë´ú¼)ÇÏ°í °è¼Ì´Ù. ±× ¶§ ¼ö¸¹Àº ÀþÀºÀ̵éÀÌ ¼¼Á¸¿¡°Ô¼ ¸ÖÁö ¾ÊÀº °÷¿¡¼ ºñ¿ô´Â µíÇÑ Åµµ·Î Áö³ªÃÄ°¬´Ù.
±× ÀþÀºÀ̵éÀÌ ... ºñ¿ô´Â µíÇÑ Åµµ·Î Áö³ªÃÄ °¡´Â °ÍÀ» ¼¼Á¸²²¼ º¸¼Ì´Ù.
±× ¶§, ±×°ÍÀÇ Àǹ̡¤Á߿伺À» ±ú´ÞÀ¸½Ã°í¼ ¼¼Á¸²²¼´Â ¹Ù·Î ±× ¼ø°£ ¿µ°¨À» ÁÖ´Â ÀÌ·¯ÇÑ °Ô¼ÛÀ» À¼À¸¼Ì´Ù.
The dullards who appear as wise men
Recite with speech alone as their range.
As much as they wish they stretch their mouths;
What leads them on they do not know.
