On Earnestness
21.
Heedfulness is the path to the deathless,
heedlessness is the path to death.
The heedful do not die;
the heedless are like unto the dead. .
22. Distinctly understanding this (difference ),
the wise (intent) on heedfulness rejoice in heedfulness, delighting in the realm of the Ariyas.
23. The constantly meditative, the ever steadfast
ones realize the bond-free, supreme Nibbana.

21.방일하지 않음이 불사의 길이고 방일하는
것은 죽음의 길이니 방일하지 않은 사람은 죽지
않으며 방일한 사람은 죽은 자와 같다.
22.이러한 이치 상세히 알아서 슬기로운 님은
방일하지 않고 방일하지 않음에 기뻐하고
고귀한 님의 행경을 즐긴다
23 선정에 들고 인내하고 언제나 확고하게
노력하는 님 , 현명한님은 열반,
위없는 안온을 경험한다
