39. Dhamma-teachings
진리 법을 가르침
This was said by the Lord....
"There are, bhikkhus, two successive Dhamma-teachings
of the Tathagata, the Arahant, the Fully Awakened One.
What are the two?
'See evil as evil' - this is the first Dhamma-teaching.
'Having seen as evil, be rid of it, be detached from it,
be freed from it' - this is the second Dhamma-teaching.
These, bhikkhus, are the two successive Dhamma-teachings
of the Tathagata...."
세존께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다고.... [나는 들었다].
“비구들이여! 아라한, 원만하게 깨치신 분인 여래가
연이어서 [주는] 두 가지 진리 법의 가르침이 있소.
두 가지가 무엇일까요? ‘악을 악으로 보라’ -
이것이 첫 번째 진리 법의 가르침이지요.
‘악을 악으로 보았으니, 그것에서 벗어나고
그것에서 떨어지고 그것을 없게 하라’ -
이것이 두 번째 진리 법의 가르침이지요.
비구들이여! 이것들이 ...
여래가 연이어서 [주는] 두 가지 진리 법의 가르침이지요.”
Regard the ordered words he spoke,
The Tathagata, the Awakened One,
Compassionate for all beings,
And the two things he proclaimed:
"See what is evil" is one,
The other "Be detached from it."
With a mind become detached from evil
You will make an end of suffering.
모든 존재[중생]들에게 자심(慈心)을 품은
아라한, 깨치신 분,
그 분이 말씀하신 정연한 말씀과
그 분께서 선포하신 두 가지를 주목하라.
“무엇이 악한가를 [제대로] 살펴라” 가 하나,
다른 하나는 “그것에서 떨어져라.”
악에서 떠나게 된 마음으로
그대는 괴로움을 끝내게 되리
