59. Mara's Domain
마라의 영역
This was said by the Lord....
"Bhikkhus, being in possession of three things, a bhikkhu has passed beyond the domain of Mara and shines like the sun. What are the three? Herein a bhikkhu is in possession of the non-learner's aggregate of virtue, the non-learner's aggregate of concentration, and the non-learner's aggregate of wisdom. These are the three things in possession of which a bhikkhu has passed beyond the domain of Mara and shines like the sun."
세존께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다고.... [나는 들었다].
“비구들이여! 세 가지를 갖춘 비구는 마라[惡魔]의 영역을 뛰어넘어서
태양처럼 빛나지요. 세 가지가 무엇일까요? 여기 한 비구가 ‘더 이상
배울 것이 없는 사람
[無學]’의 계율[戒]의 쌓임을 갖추고, ‘더 이상 배울 것이 없는
사람[無學]’의 정신 집중[定]의 쌓임을 갖추고 ‘더 이상 배울 것이
없는 사람[無學]’의 지혜[慧]의 쌓임을 갖추었소. 그것을 갖춘 비구가
마라의 영역을 뛰어 넘어서 태양처럼 빛나게 되는 세 가지가 이것들이요.
Virtue, concentration, and wisdom -
One in whom these are fully developed,
On passing beyond Mara's domain,
Shines forth like the sun.
계율, 정신 집중과 지혜 -
이 세 가지를 원만하게 닦은 사람은
마라[惡魔]의 영역을 뛰어넘어
태양처럼 빛나네.
