107 Very Helpful
크게 도움이 되는 사람
This was said by the Lord·.
“Bhikkhus, brahmins and householders are very helpful
to you. They provide you with the requisites of robes,
almsfood, lodgings, and medicine in time of sickness.
And you, bhikkhus, are very helpful to brahmins and
householders, as you teach them the Dhamma that is
good at the outset, good in the middle, and good at
the end, with its correct meaning and wording, and you
proclaim the holy life in its fulfilment and complete purity.
Thus, bhikkhus, this holy life is lived with mutual support
for the purpose of crossing the flood and making a complete
end of suffering."
세존께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다고.... [나는 들었다].
“비구들이여! 바라문들과 재가자들은 그대들에게 크게 도움이
되오. 그들이 그대들에게 옷․탁발 음식․숙소의 필수품을 그리고
아플 때에는 약을 제공해주지요. 비구들이여! 그리고 그대들은
정확한 의미와 표현을 써서 그들에게 처음도 좋고 중간도 좋으며
끝도 좋은 진리 법을 가르쳐 주며, 수행이 이루어지고 완전하게
청정해진 성스러운 삶[梵行; 淸淨行]을 드러내 보여주지요.
비구들이여! 그러므로 이 성스러운 삶은 [번뇌라는] 거센 물결을
건너고 괴로움을 완전하게 소멸할 목적으로 서로 뒷받침하며
살아가는 것이오.”
Householders and homeless alike,
Each a support for the other,
Both accomplish the true Dhamma
The unsurpassed security from bondage.
From householders the homeless receive
These basic necessities of life,
Robes to wear and a place to dwell
Dispelling the hardships of the seasons.
And by relying on one of good conduct,
Home-loving lay-folk dwelling in a house
Place faith in those worthy ones
Of noble wisdom and meditative.
Practising the Dhamma in this life,
The path leading to a good bourn,
Those wishing for pleasure rejoice
In the delights of the deva world.
재가자들이나 집 없는 이[出家者]들이나 마찬가지로
서로 상대를 위한 의지처[가 되어],
양쪽 다 진실한 진리 법 -
속박으로부터의 유례없는 안전을 성취하네.
집 없는 이들은 재가자들에게서,
여러 계절의 고생을 없애주는
입을 옷과 머물 곳,
이런 생활 필수품들을 얻네.
그리고 가정에 머물면서 가정을 사랑하는 재가자는
훌륭한 행위를 갖춘 이에 의존함으로서,
성스러운 지혜를 갖추고 선정에 드는
저 자격을 갖춘 분들에게 신심을 품네.
즐거움을 바라는 저들은,
좋은 곳으로 인도하는 길인
진리 법을 이번 생애에 실천하면서
신들의 나라의 기쁨을 [마음껏] 누리네.
