102. The Destruction of Taints
때[煩惱]의 소멸
This was said by the Lord....
“For one knowing and seeing, bhikkhus, I say there is the
destruction of the taints, not for one not knowing and
not seeing. But for one knowing what, seeing what,
is there the destruction of the taints? For one knowing
and seeing, ‘This is suffering,' there is the destruction of
the taints. For one knowing and seeing, ‘This is the origin
of suffering' ... This is the cessation of suffering,' ...
This is the course leading to the cessation of suffering,'
there is the destruction of the taints. Thus it is, bhikkhus,
that for one knowing and seeing there is the destruction
of the taints."
세존께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다고.... [나는 들었다].
“비구들이여! 알고 보는 사람에게는 때[煩惱]의 소멸이 있지만
[제대로] 알지 못하고 보지 못하는 사람에게는 그렇지 않다고
나는 말하지요. 그런데 무엇을 알고 무엇을 보는 사람에게 때
[煩惱]의 소멸이 있을까요? ‘이것은 괴로움이다[苦]’라고
알고 보는 사람에게는 때[煩惱]의 소멸이 있지요. ‘이것은
괴로움의 원인이다[集]’라고 알고 보는... ‘이것은 괴로움의
소멸이다[滅]’라고... ‘이것은 괴로움의 소멸로 가는 길이다
[道]’라고 알고 보는 사람에게는 때[煩惱]의 소멸이 있지요.
비구들이여! 알고 보는 사람에게는 때[煩惱]의 소멸이 있다는
것은 이와 같은 것이오.”
For a learner who is training
In conformity with the direct path,
The knowledge of destruction arises first,
And final knowledge immediately follows.
To one freed by that final knowledge,
The topmost knowledge of freedom,
There arises the knowledge of destruction:
"Thus the fetters are destroyed."
Certainly not by the lazy person
Nor by the uncomprehending fool
Is Nibbana to be attained,
The loosening of all worldly ties.
곧바로 난 길[正道]에 맞추어
수행하고 있는 배우는 사람[有學]에게는
맨 먼저 [번뇌] 소멸의 지혜가 생겨나고
궁극의 지혜가 곧 바로 [그 뒤를] 따르네.
가장 높은 해탈의 지혜인,
궁극의 지혜에 의해 해탈한 사람에게는
[이와 같은 번뇌] 소멸의 지혜가 일어나네:
“이와 같이 속박이 소멸되었다.”
[그러나] 게으른 사람이나
분별력이 없는 어리석은 사람은
온갖 세속적 속박의 해방인
닙바나[涅槃]를 성취할 수 없음이 확실하네.
