95. Sensual Desire
감각적 욕망
This was said by the Lord....
"Bhikkhus, there are these three ways of obtaining
the objects of sensual desire. What three?
There are those objects of sensual desire already
existent; there is the way of those who delight
in creating them; and there is the way of those
who gain control over objects created by
others. These are the three ways...."
세존께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다고.... [나는 들었다].
“비구들이여! [세상에] 감각적 욕망의 대상을 얻는 이들
세 가지 방법이 있지요. 셋이 무엇일까요? 이미 존재하는
감각적 욕망의 대상들이 있고, 그것들을 만들어내는 데에서
즐거워하는 사람들의 방법이 있으며 다른 이들이 만들어
놓은 [감각적 욕망의] 대상에 대한 통제력을 얻는 사람들의
방법이 있지요. 이것들이... 세 가지 방법이지요.”
Those who enjoy what exists,
Those devas exercising control,
Those who delight in creating,
And others who enjoy sense-objects -
Being in this state or another
They cannot pass beyond samsara.
Understanding this danger
In objects of sensual enjoyment,
Let the wise person abandon all sense pleasures,
Those both heavenly and human.
By severing the flow of craving,
The flow so difficult to overcome
Of greed for pleasing, enticing forms,
They attain to final Nibbana
And overcome all suffering.
The noble seers, masters of knowledge,
Wise ones with perfect understanding,
By directly knowing the end of birth
Come no more to renewal of being.
[현재] 존재하고 있는 것들을 즐기는 이들,
통제력을 행사하는 신들,
[스스로] 만들어내는 데에서 즐거워하는 신들
그리고 감각의 대상을 즐기는 다른 이들 -
이런 곳이나 저런 곳에 있으므로
그들은 윤회를 뛰어넘어 갈 수가 없네.
감각적 쾌락의 대상들에 있는
이 위험을 [잘] 이해하였으니,
천상에 있는 것들과 인간계의 것들 둘 다,
현명한 사람은 온갖 감각적 쾌락을 버리게 하시오.
갈망의 물줄기,
기분 좋고, 유혹하는 형상에 대한 탐욕의
그 극복하기 어려운 물줄기를 끊어버림으로써,
그들은 궁극의 닙바나를 성취하고
모든 괴로움을 극복하네.
성스러운 선각자들[明眼], 지혜의 스승님들,
원만한 지혜를 갖춘 현자들은
‘태어남의 끝’을 바르게 알아
더 이상 존재를 되풀이[輪廻]하러 오지 않네.
